A potent and selective inhibitor of PDE5, a subunit of the phosphodiesterase family, is selective in its action. It exerts a direct effect on the nitric oxide (NO) and cyclic GMP in the corpus cavernosum. This is in accordance with the effects of a natural product known as nitric oxide (NO) produced by the corpus cavernosum.
